A Gas Filled Thermometer is a precision temperature measuring instrument that operates on the principle of pressure variation of a gas with temperature. It consists of a sensing bulb filled with inert gas, a capillary tube, and a pressure-responsive element (Bourdon tube) connected to a dial indicator.

When the temperature around the bulb changes, the gas inside expands or contracts, causing a corresponding pressure change. This pressure is transmitted through the capillary to the measuring element, which converts it into an accurate temperature reading on the dial.

Gas filled thermometers are widely used in industrial applications due to their high accuracy, uniform scale, and suitability for long-distance measurement. They are especially effective over a wide temperature range and perform reliably in harsh environments.
